Reading Rainbow, Come Back

Today I found out that LeVar Burton is trying to bring back Reading Rainbow. It was a wonderful program that was beloved by many and encouraged many children to want to learn. It taught kids that learning could be fun and that using your mind is very detrimental for the much needed growth in the educational system.

Reading Rainbow stopped airing in 2006 and went to tablet form. Tablets can be a fun experience for kids, but many kids do not have access to tablets at school or home. Burton is trying to bring back the program to make it more accessible to all children in school. He wants to make it available to kids via the internet. Many kids can see this program at home or at school. Now, more kids will be able to view this program and be educated on the basic tools of learning.

LeVar Burton wants to raise a million dollars through a kick starter program so he can give kids unlimited access to this program. He wants programs that will help teachers in classrooms and help kids use it in and after school. Burton wants the programs to cost nothing for the public so that no one can be left behind. Before you say Burton is just asking for handouts, he is doing things himself to contribute to the cause. He will do Skype calls and send autographs in order to gain donations for the kick starter.

This is a very important cause. We need more children that want to be educated and want to learn. Reading Rainbow has always taught kids to be adventurous with their learning and to never be afraid to think outside the box. This program can be great for schools and for kids.
