Album Review: Damon Albarn’s Everyday Robots

Everyday Robots Cover

If you’re a fan of the virtual band Gorillaz, you may be pleasantly surprised to learn that Damon Albarn, the songwriter and voice behind the group, has just released his first solo album entitled Everyday Robots.

Albarn’s wistful and melancholy voice is very pleasant to listen to, especially on a rainy day.

The album features electronic beats, synthesizers, ringing pianos, and meaningful lyrics. Some of my favorites are: “Everyday Robots,” which speaks about our current obsession with electronic devices and  “Mr Trembo,” which is very happy-sounding compared to the rest of the album. Other favorites include “The Selfish Giant,” “You & Me,” and “Photographs (You are Taking Now).”

As a Gorillaz fan this album was a lovely treat to listen to. This album receives a 4 out of 5  stars rating from me and you can listen to the entire album for free on Spotify.
